PHOTO RESTORATION
Our photo restoration service is our most extensive level of digital repair, and we are acknowledged experts in photo restoration. Our advanced photo restoration techniques allow us to return nearly any photo to their former glory, even those damaged by fire, light, water, mold, pets, or children.
The Process
Step 1: Email us your damaged photos (scan or click a good photograph of it in daylight without flash) or courier us your image. If you are couriering the photographs, please do email us some sample pictures for a confirmation.
Make sure your files are high-resolution. We recommend that they are at least 500KB and for the best results possible they have to be 1MB or more.
You can also include comments with the photos, like “remove this person on the left” or “the main thing I want done is to repair the tear in the middle”
Step 2: Review our quote and choose to restore all or just some of the photos that you have mailed us.
There is no charge from us to give you a quote.
Step 3: For each approved quote, we will ask you to make a 50% deposit.
Step 4: Once you approve a quote, a professional restoration technician is assigned to restore your photo. Restoration is extremely painstaking and in some cases even pixel by pixel. Typically, photo restoration takes about 7-10 days.
Step 5: Once the restoration is complete, we shall mail you the high-resolution images via We Transfer.
FAQ:
Q1: What instructions do I need to provide for photo restoration?
Our restoration artists are very experienced and know how to repair damaged/poor images. However, if you have special requests, you can include instructions like: "remove blemishes", "remove frame border", "add hair, beard" etc.
Q2: What types of digital files can I upload for restoration?
You can upload images in jpeg format. Images must be less than 10MB in size. Please ensure that your images have enough clarity (we cannot restore a complete blurred image into a sharp image). If for any reason your file cannot be restored, we will let you know during the quote process and you won't have to pay for any images that aren't restorable.
Q3: How long does it take for a Photo Restoration Quote?
We will typically send you a quote in 2-4 business days from the time you send us your images.
Q4: How long will it take to get my image restored?
We are usually able to complete the restoration of your images within a couple days to a week from the day you approve the quote.
Q5: How much will a Photo Restoration cost?
You will get a quote from us and you get to review and accept the quotes prior to making any payment. Our quotes are final and there are no hidden charges. Pricing is based simply on the time spent by the artist and the skill required to restore the image.
Q7: Can I get my Photo Restorations on a CD or DVD?
We are not offering CDs/DVDs right now. We are offering instantaneous download as soon as your job is ready and the payment is complete.
Q8: Will Thirdi Digital keep my restorations forever?
Once you have downloaded the restored photographs, we will erase the images from our servers after 10 days.
Q9: Can you restore black and white images?
Yes, we can restore black and white images, as well as sepia images.
Q10: Can you restore images that have been torn?
Absolutely. It is critical that we get as much of the original photograph as possible. You can check our samples.
Q11: What training do your photo restoration technicians have?
Our artists have been through formal training in color concepts, restoration tools, image enhancement techniques, highlight/clipping management, grain reduction and calibration routines. They are proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw. All artists must qualify a restoration skills test prior to working on customer images.
Q12: What color profile do you use?
We use Adobe RGB as our default.
SCANNING OLD PHOTOS & NEGATIVES
Your old photos are in danger of fading away or getting damaged. Photo scanning can save them, safely and affordably:
Chances are, your old photos are some of most precious things you have. So when you send your photos off for photo scanning, you expect them to be treated carefully. Which is why, we handle your photos by hand, in every respect. To start with, we scan them one at a time, without the use of auto-fed scanning machines that can mangle your photos. But where our handcrafted quality really shines is in repairing your photos. Where other services use a piece of software to guess its way through a batch of your most important memories, our service takes every single photo you send us and has it examined by a highly trained technician with a good eye and a terrific set of hands. And yet the service is not just affordable, it is much less expensive than many services of lower quality. So you don't have to make a hard choice between being able to afford to preserve all your memories, and being able to preserve them well. We do both.
Essentially every image we receive requires some correction due to the effects of time. Photos on display are particularly subject to fading, and even those hidden away in photo albums are subject to color shifts (unless stored in subzero conditions) both from time and from possible reaction to the photo album itself.
For every image we receive, we will manually perform:
In short, for our standard level of service, a technician will spend approximately 10-15 minutes per image addressing all of the problems above. In our experience of scanning so many photos, we believe this produces outstanding quality almost all of the time. There may be some photos that are so damaged, that they require our restoration service, but that's relatively rare.
